In 2019, The Dominick proudly achieved the Green Seal Bronze certification, becoming the second property in NYC to do so. This certification is a testament to our commitment to providing sustainable, efficient, and recyclable services. To reduce our carbon footprint, we have implemented various energy-saving measures. Our major heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning units follow strict schedules, resulting in decreased energy consumption. Additionally, we've transitioned 90% of our lighting from halogen or fluorescent to LED, reducing heat emissions significantly. We've also introduced a cutting-edge food-waste management system in partnership with ORCA, which transforms food waste into an environmentally safe liquid, diverting refuse from landfills and contributing to a cleaner Manhattan. Honeybee Program
At The Dominick, we recognize the crucial role that honeybees play in our ecosystem. That's why we've partnered with Bee Haven Bees, a local and sustainable apiary company specializing in Italian bees. Our bee colony thrives with approximately 30,000 bees during the winter months and flourishes to an impressive 65,000-70,000 bees during the summer. With a commitment to sustainability and bee welfare, we conduct two annual honey harvests, one in the fall and another in the spring. Each harvest yields an impressive 60-80 pounds of exquisite honey, which we proudly incorporate into our culinary offerings and our signature Dominick Honeybee Ritual at Sisley Spa. Our Honeybee Program, in partnership with Bee Haven Bees, not only supports Italian honeybee populations but also provides our guests with a unique opportunity to savor the sweet nectar of sustainability.
